The Bloubergstrand area has a wonderful view of Table Mountain and the Cape Town area. The view is most recognizable if you have received post cards from Cape Town in the past. The Blouberg area is only about 15 km away from the Cape Town city centre and is easily reached by car in only a few minutes. All the popular beaches have parking available. These white sandy beaches are well worth visiting. There are also many Blouberg restaurants that offer good seafood and international cuisine.
Bloubergstrand is also very popular among swimmers, surfers and kite-boarders. During the summer these beaches are packed with sports enthusiasts. Sand boarding is also available on one of the many dunes in this area.

It is said that the name Blouberg originates from the fact that the Table Mountain and Cape Town appear to have a blue glow when seen from the Bloubergstrand region. You will also have a stunning view of Robben Island which is situated about 6km from the shore. Here Nelson Mandela was held captive during the Apartheid-era.
